A one-time setup that links your bank's payment terminal to Swiple POS, so card amounts are sent across automatically instead of being keyed in by hand.
You'll need three things. If any are missing, sort those out first — the pairing itself takes about a minute.
| What you need | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| A Linkly‑enabled EFTPOS terminal | Your bank — CBA, NAB, ANZ, Westpac and others. Ask specifically for a Linkly Cloud terminal, as not every model supports it. |
| Your Linkly Cloud username and password | Provided when your terminal is set up — one login per terminal. If you don't have it, contact your bank or Linkly support. |
| Internet for both devices | The terminal needs its own connection, by wi‑fi or ethernet. It does not connect to your tablet. |
Worth knowing. Your terminal and your POS tablet never talk to each other directly. Both connect out to Linkly over the internet, and Linkly matches them up. That's why they can sit on different networks — and why there's nothing to plug in between them.
Plug the terminal in and connect it to the internet over wi‑fi or ethernet, following the instructions supplied by your bank. Wait for it to finish starting up.
Once it's online, the terminal displays a short pair code on its screen. You'll type this into the POS in a moment.
The code expires. Pair codes last only a few minutes, so have the tablet ready before you fetch one. If it runs out, the terminal will show a fresh code.
On the tablet, go to Settings and find the EFTPOS Terminals (Linkly) section.
Switch Linkly Integration on, then tap Manage Linkly Terminals.
Under Pair a new terminal, enter:
| Nickname | Any name that helps staff tell terminals apart — "Front counter", "Bar", "Drive‑through". |
| Linkly username | Your Linkly Cloud username. |
| Linkly password | Your Linkly Cloud password. |
| Pair code | The code currently showing on the terminal. |
Tap Pair terminal.
The terminal now appears in the list at the top of the screen under its nickname. That's the pairing done — it's permanent, and you won't be asked for the password or pair code again.
Test it before your first customer. Use the test option on the same screen to run a small sale and confirm the terminal responds.
Nothing changes about how you take payments. Ring the order up as usual and choose Card. The amount is sent to the terminal automatically — no keying in totals, and no risk of charging the wrong amount. The customer taps, inserts or swipes, and the sale completes in the POS on its own.
Nearly always an expired pair code. Get a fresh one from the terminal and try again straight away. If it still fails, confirm your username and password with your bank or Linkly.
This happens if your Linkly password has changed, or the terminal has since been paired to a different POS. Repeat the steps above with a new pair code.
Check the terminal is switched on and still connected to the internet — its screen should show its normal idle display. If it has dropped off wi‑fi, reconnect it and try the sale again.
If the tablet loses power or the app closes during a payment, don't charge the customer again. Reopen Swiple POS — it automatically checks with the terminal what happened to that sale and prints a receipt showing the result.
Pair it again from the new register using a fresh pair code. A terminal is linked to one POS at a time, so pairing it somewhere new ends the previous link.
